The Swarco Raiders win the first game of the BIG6 European Football League against the Calanda Broncos with 40:17 (23:0, 0:10, 17:7, 0:0). The game was played in Chur and attracted 910 visitors.
The Raiders were able to stun their opponent in the first quarter . They score three Touchdowns (Platzgummer, Erlsbacher, Calahan) and a Safety (Hueter). It takes the Broncos a whole quarter until they are able to gain a first down. Then they seem to find their rhythm and they are able to bring 10 unanswered points on the scoreboard.

But the second half starts as the first one and the Raiders show why they are one of the top teams in Europe. The Raiders score a TD and a fieldgoal before the Broncos are able to score again with a TD by Buford. The Raiders answer with a long pass to Clemens Erlsbacher for the final score of 40:17.
The fourth quarter remained scoreless. In the end two good quarters are enough for the Raiders to secure their first win.
For the Raiders the move to bring Calahan as wide receiver has proven to be successful. DJ Wolfe was not used extensively on offense but had an interception in the defense. It seems that the Raiders may have not shown their full potential yet.
The Broncos need to regroup. They have shown in the second quarter that they are able to compete on this level. But they need to be more consistent.
By winning the first game the Raiders are now in a very good position on top of Group B of the BIG European Football League. They are able to secure a spot in the Eurobowl if they are able to win against Berlin Adler on June 14th in Innsbruck.
