This weekend the finalists for the Eurobowl will be determined in two games. There are still five teams with chances to make it. Four of them can decide their fate themselves.
Group B – New Yorker Lions vs. Flash de la Courneuve
Saturday, May 16th, 3:00pm Kickoff
Stadion am Salzgittersee
Group B has its decisive game on Saturday. In Group B all teams still have theoretical chances of making it to the finals. The Lions beat the Raiders in a very close and dramatic game in Innsbruck 33:28 while the Flash were beaten by the Raiders with 14:47.
The Lions are favored by many experts, not only to go to the Eurobowl XXIX but also to win it. But first they need to win against Flash. If they lose – depending on the outcome of the game – Raiders or Flash will go to the finals instead. Last weekend the Lions have lost against the Dresden Monarchs in the GFL, but they had several key players not playing due to injuries. It has to be seen who gets healthy until the game kicks off this weekend.
Flash is not having an easy season. In the french championships they are 5-4. But they have nothing to lose and have great talent in their team, so if they have an exceptional day this could be enough to beat the Lions.
If the Lions win, they will go to Eurobowl XXIX. A low win by the Flash would get the Raiders back into the race and a high win could even get Flash back into the biggest game in Europe. Depending on the outcome of the game any of those three teams could go to Eurobowl XXIX.
Group A – Vienna Vikings vs. Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns
Sunday, May 17th, 3:00pm Kickoff
Stadion Hohe Warte
In Group A last year’s champion Berlin Adler is already out of the race. Both the Unicorns and the Vikings won their game against the Adler with ease. The winner of this game will go to Eurobowl XXIX.
Vienna is having its traditional “Charity Bowl” with the final game of the BIG6 Group A against the Unicorns. The winner goes to Eurobowl XXIX.
For Vienna this is a very important game for their very young group of players. In this game they are able to test if they are able to compete on the highest level of football in Europe. The team has decided to play without imports in 2015. In the Austrian Football League the Vikings have an excellent 4-1 record.
The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns have not lost one of their first three games this year. They know their opponent well as Jordan Neumann has been the Offensive Coordinator for the Vikings until 2013.
